Being a Member Means Having Fun
This is the third time that we have sponsored a Paint n Sip at The Exibit. The first year was an acrylic painting mimicking the instructor’s work. Last year was learning how to watercolor. This year we used a knife technique with acrylic paint on a silver board to make a floral or landscape painting. Each one was unique like the women who made them. Thanks to everyone who came.

What is All For Good?All For Good is like the Craig's List for matching volunteers and projects or organizations. It allows volunteers to filter by zip code and by type of program. It was developed as a Google project after being inspired by then President Obama. It was later acquired by Points of Light.

What is Points of Light?This is the largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Their focus is to mobilize people into action to help solve community issues. They see themselves as inspiring, impacting, equipping and creating solutions involving volunteer action.

It created a call of service, culminating in the development of the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps/Senior corps. Learn about your opportunity to serve through federal programs.

Secret Pal
Secret Sister/Pal is up and running again. What a great way to let a person know, in little ways, how you appreciate them. It's our second year of this membership initiative, and more people than ever are involved. So show your secret pal that you care. Send them a note, a small gift, and a little clue each month of who you are. The big reveal will be at the May banquet. Way to Bee supportive!

MWC Unifies to Clean It Up!
MWC is working on a Unity Project along with Prairie State Woman's Club, Coal City Junior Woman's Club, Morris Lions Club, Morris Area Garden Club and First Presbyterian Church. A Unit Project is a number of different organizations working together on 1 project to benefit the recipient. The Regency Care Nursing Home is under new management and are working diligently to make it more appealing and a better environment for the residents, but it's going to take time, and with the checks from the state running 7 - 9 months behind--it is difficult. Their first priority is the interior. Meanwhile the exterior (landscaping, mostly) has not been maintained well for the last year or so. As a result, the beds are full of weeds, shrubs need to be pruned, there are no flowers to speak of and the area off the dining room (where residents spend a great deal of time) is bleak.
The project is to clean up the landscape plant. Staff will be able to maintain once it's cleaned up. The next workday is Tuesday, June 27 . If you can't come for the entire time, come and do what you can and then go on your way. Gardening gloves would be helpful, along with any other gardening tools you like to use. Lawn bags will be provided. Bring a friend - or family! More hands make the work lighter.
